Everyone knows about the "Flipping a home". Well, there is also flipping a website. Flipping requires a major outlay or money, a website possibly. But one thing is certain. You will need:
1) Money for the purchase
2) skills and ability to turn the website into a profit so it can sell above what you paid for it
3) And nerves of steel if you have no idea what you are doing.
Buying a domain name to resell
The premise of reselling a domain for profit is buying the site for the name only. People in this area of buying and selling or banking on the fact that the domain name may pull a huge profit in the near future. They are not concerned about the site or it's content, just the name. Here people are looking at trends, and what the value of that trend will give them. Let's take an example: If for instance, you had a website called "blogger.com", you might have made a good profit. Get my meaning.
To conclude, as you can see, your domain name is important-not only to you, but maybe to someone else.
