Don't Let Your Ego Interfere With Choosing a Great Domain Name For Your Business

By Ken Devonald

Why is a domain name so important?

The domain name is one of the most honest things on a website - to the search engines that is. Whereas we can create titles on web pages to suit a whim, when we purchase a domain name we are stuck with it - it is not something we can edit and change. The search engines know this, and place a lot of importance on it. Now it is easy to let your ego interfere with your intelligence, and end up buying the domain of your business name or yourself. My first company was registered under the name 'Blendfall Ltd' whatever that meant. Using "blendfall" in a domain name for the search engines to use would be a waste because very few would look for it.

However, using a domain name with programmer, or software, or contractor in it would more closely match the function of the company and the site, but be more difficult for legitimate offline users to find - you try searching for one of these and you would have difficulty finding it amongst the millions of competing sites. However, combined with a couple of other keywords you are likely to attract organic searchers.

What is the solution?

The ideal approach to choosing a domain name is to choose two. One should be used for the search engines, and reflect your main keyword theme. Separate the words with hyphens which helps the search engines extract the words from the name. Use this one online only, because otherwise you will find yourself having to say over the phone 'www dot blah hyphen blah hyphen blah dot com'.

The second domain should reflect your business name or other desirable and memorable name. This should be used offline, and not contain any hyphens or other special characters, including numbers. Otherwise you will find yourself on the phone saying www dot intro 2 software dot com and that is the number 2... no, not spelt tee double you oh, the digit 2...

Do as I say, not as I do!

How Do You Buy Domain Names?

By Jason Hobbs

Many people enter the e-commerce industry with no idea where to get started. They know what they want and what they will need to be successful, but they don't know how. One of the first step of creating a website is purchasing a domain name. There are many ways to do this, ranging from cheap to very expensive. As in most things, the more money something costs the better quality it generally is, especially in domain names.

Domain names, when already registered, are sold and priced based on public demand, usually due to an auction format of selling. When people open up an auction they will usually offer a BIN, or buy it now price. This is the price that the seller would be willing to close the auction and give the domain to you immediately. When you choose to buy a domain name from a person, you are usually counting on a very high quality domain name and maybe that the domain has already had some marketing done. However, this comes with a heavy price tag. Do not fear, there is a more economical way to buy your domain name.

You can also buy domain names from domain name registrars, popular ones including namecheap and godaddy. They provide the service of allowing you to register a domain name with the DNS servers that assign the servers to an IP Address. They allow you to register domain names that are currently not in use. This means that for usually less capital than it takes to go out to lunch and eat, you can get yourself a brandable custom domain name.

There are many choices that you need to look into before making your first purchase. You need to make sure that the domain name extension is appropriate to your website, and that the name you are looking into getting isn't already in a market that is flooded with people trying to get into it. You need to be sure that the name you choose is specific enough to your content without being to specific that your business can't grow and change. If you make your choice wisely when buying your domain name, you will have a very well establish domain name in your future.

Take all of these things into consideration when you want to buy domain names, and you will find yourself making a much better decision in the long run.

The Domain Name Business - A Quick Guide

By Brian Harrison

Domains names are more than just a useful address for storing and showing business or personal information on the internet, they can bee the difference between a successful and non successful business.

Selecting the right domain name, hosting provider and website design, plus website development is not a small job.

The domain name market

A study of internet businesses showed that most of them spend less than 2 hours choosing their domain name, web hosting providers or doing a detailed plan of thier website requirements. This can only lead to problem later on in the website development process and could cost you a lot of money.

The report also said that 45% of those businesses thought that they had chosen the wrong domain name and could increase sale with a better name. No surprise there when they are putting less time into the decision than they do deciding on the venue for the office xmas party. Using domain names that are complex and too long for your customers to remember and you will miss out on traffic and valuable business emails.

Although there is much controversy around the whole domain name business one thing is for sure...can you really afford to let someone else capitalize on your company domain name or names. The number of domain names is increasing with most of them linked to geographical locations such as .nl for Holland, .de for Germany and .FR for France.

These local TLD's or Top Level Domains help to categories the internet and help the customer find a supplier in their own country.

Every country in the world has been supplied with a Top Level Domain and so you can imagine the choice of TLD's is vast. There are also continental TLD's that are now available such as .eu and .asia, again this allows you to have a presence in a specific area of the globe.

There are other TLD's that are Global such as .com and .net and these tend to bee used by people or businesses who require a global presence. Of course this will also make them very sort after and extremely valuable.

There are constantly new TLD's coming online all the time for example we now have .mobi domain that are primarily for mobile devices .xxx for the adult industry.

Many other domain names are in the pipeline and I'm sure will eventually cover most categories from .clothes to .cars. This idea is generally to help make addresses more relevant.

How Domain Names Work

Domain names are a shortcut to a designated Internet address. The internet works by giving every device that is connected to it a unique identification number called an IP address and packets of data sent to and from that device are marked with that ip address.

IP addresses are not the most friendly of address to remember and can bee up to 12 digits long so the number is converted into something we all understand, "domain names" They are used as direct links to web and e-mail servers. If you Type 216.109.112.135 into your browser you will find that this takes you to yahoo.com as a good example.

The domain names and IP Addresses that are relevant to your searches are stored in a domain name server or (DNS). So when you type the URL you want to find into your web browser, your computer sends a request to the DNS at your Internet service provider in order to find the IP address of the web server.

Once it has the correct address it can talk directly to the web server and you can search the site for as requested. I quick way to find the ip address of any web site is to use the ping command. Go to Start - Run and type, for example ping yahoo.com into the box.

A small window will appear with the IP address of the web server. There are also many great domains that supply this service and more, try ip-adress.com and see what I mean. Knowing this can help you understand why you will get delays when you register a new domain name and web site or any changes you make to an existing web sites dns settings.

The DNS information need to propagate correctly and this can take up to 24 hours for all the DNS servers globally to update and list your new domain setting that hold your website.

Who Controls Domain Names?

Domain Names are controlled by an organization called the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or ICANN. They are responsible for deciding how the internet TLD structure should look and what TLD's should be used.

ICANN is a non-profit organization acting under the authority of the US Government, Department of Commerce.

Although ICANN make the big decisions on what TLDs are available, each TLD or country has its own domain registry.

Nominet for instants looks after all .uk domains and decides on the structure and release of the UK's second level domains. Second level domains can be useful for a country and can include many variables such as .co.uk, .sch.uk and .me.uk.

Registering A Domain Name?

To register a domain name, there a few thing you need to know. First need to check that the domain name you want is still available.

The easiest way to do this is to just go to the top of this page and use the domain name search box supplied. Anyone can register a domain name within the framework of allowed suffixes provided it isn't already taken.

There are some restrictions on TLD's such as .eu, .us and .Asia requiring to registrar to reside within a specific geographical location. But be careful in your choice of domain name, although there a few restriction on registering a domain name this does now mean that someone may not consider they hold title of the name.

This could result in a person or company taking action against you through the disputes tribuneral in order to protect their names and trademarks or worse still take over your domain name. This is known as cyber squatting - where an individual as registered a domain name purely in the hope they can sell it on or cause disruption or brand damage to the rightful owner.

Domain Auctions

If the domain name you want is not available it's still possible you may bee able to buy it. If the domain name does not have a web site you can find out who owns it and contact them about the possibility of purchasing the name from them. There is nothing stopping you doing this and it is perfectly legal to do so as long as both parties are in agreement.

To find out who owns a domain name you can do a search on websites like whois.net A search with Whois will show you details on who registered that domain, their name, address and contact details. Once you have decided on your domain name or names you need to contact a domain registrar. Domain registrars are approved companies that can register domains on your behalf.

It pays to shop around when choosing your domain registrar and often several are needed depending on amount and type of TLD's you wish to purchase. Prices can vary widely due to the global nature of the web. It doesn't really matter where the domain company is based and big saving can be found by selecting a registrar based overseas.

Once you have successfully acquired your domain name you will want to setup your web site, before you can do this you need to research web hosting providers. They will supply you with a web hosting and email hosting package. This basically means that you have hired web space on that companies web servers.

The beauty of owning your own domain and setting up a web hosting account is that it will give you full control of how you want you domain structure and control over the email for that web site and domain name.

Web hosting providers and the services they supply could be a whole article in itself but I will not go into to much detail here. Basic web hosting packages supply you with about 50MB of space and usually there will bee bandwidth restriction on the amount of data you can downloaded per month.

You need to spend a little time working out exactly what your site will be doing and what kind of services you require. It's no use paying $100 a month for a dedicated server just to run a word blog that's updated once a month.

New category-based TLDs are coming online all the time and available for the general public to register. When a new TLD becomes available, there is a period of time where businesses get the chance to apply for domains to register that they consider as their trademarks ahead of the general public.

The .asia TLD is going through this process now. During this 'Sunrise' period, companies and individuals have the chance to apply for specific names or trademarks before the general public. The sunrise period lasts for four months and names that are not allocated in this period are opened up to the general public on a first come first serve basis.

There is now an entire industry setup to help you get your name from these situation and it is called the pre-registration scheme. For an extra fee you can be top of that companies attempt to secure your name. Depending on the name and amount of interest this process can be a good way of ensuring your domain name or names.

Some companies use a slightly different approach and start a pre or post auction on the domain name they manage to acquire. Great business when you think of it, if they manage to register hosting.eu or hosting.asia for $15 then auction it to the highest bidder they can make themselves a lot of money for very little work.

This in itself is a very contentious issue but until the different governing bodies get their act together you have little choice to play the game. If you do find a company that will pre-register your domain name for a fee make sure they ensure a full refund of all fees if they are not successful in registering your chosen name.

The pre-registration service is not officially recognized by the domain registration organizations and so you have no rights to that name until it is fully registered.

Buying Yourself a Domain? Choose Your Domain Name Wisely

By Adam N Jones

Choosing a domain name is one of the most important aspects of setting up your online business. The domain name you choose will be what your website is known as and remembered as. This will become your identity online and offline hopefully. You need to buy your domain name based on what you are offering or the product you are promoting.

Doing research is one of the most important aspects of choosing a truly memorable domain name. You want choose one that has the ability to become a household name. It needs to be related to your product or niche. Most people think that they need the company name or product name in the URL. That isn't the case.

Always choose a .com domain name. There have been a lot of different type of domain names coming available in the last year but none of them carry the weight that a .com domain name does. One thing you can do when you purchase your domain name is to see if other forms of your domain name are available and buy them as well. If you buy yoursite.com you can also buy yoursite.net and yoursite.org and then just link them back to your .com domain.

Your goal when choosing a domain name is to choose one that is short and also very memorable. You want to choose a domain name that can be said on a radio commercial and remembered by the audience until they get around to visiting it. Short and sweet is the name of the game. The only exception to this is if adding a descriptive adjective will help your domain name become more memorable.

These are just a few of the basics that you will need to keep in mind when choosing a domain name. Don't rush this step because you are choosing your online identity. This is the name your company or product will be remembered as across the world.

There is Money to Be Made From Dead Domain Names

By Michael Gooden

Each and every day there are lots of domain names going up for sale because the purchase who initially purchased them has forgot about them and the ownership of them has expired. However a savvy domain name investor will quickly snap these types of domains up and have the same amount of traffic going to it even though it is actually considered to be a brand new site. So unfortunately those who forget about their domains are losing out and those that are searching for and investing in them are making money.

All websites only survive if they have regular amounts of traffic being directed towards their site each day. So often when a site which has a memorable domain name and constant traffic going to it becomes available they will quickly be snapped up by some of the more savvy domain name investors around. Then often within a matter of days they have sold the domain name on for a profit.

Say for example you find a site that was selling bridal goods (gowns and tuxedos) and yet it wasn't doing as well as the website owner had expected so they have forgotten about it and their ownership has expired.

Yet one day the domain name on this site expires. A smart person who is investing in domain names will use a domain watchdog service, which will provide them with instant notification of the bridal site's domain becoming available. They will then have the chance to be able to grab this domain up for a renewal cost of as little as $6.95.

Within a matter of minutes you could find yourself being the owner of a site that has plenty of traffic being directed towards it. But what you will then need to do in order to generate cash flow for it is to build a new website page with a number of related ad links placed upon it. Doing this will help to better monetize any existing traffic that is being directed towards the site.

As time passes the investor then has the choice of either building up the site further in order to monetize the traffic that is visiting, or they can simply resell (flip) it to another site owner or domain name investor or broker.

Therefore if you have an old domain name which you are considering either retiring or flipping then the first place you should consider putting it up for sale is on eBay or a popular domain name auction service. Many people are actually pleasantly surprised at how much they have made by selling off a domain name using these particular services. On eBay alone there have been some very unusual domain names go up for sale and which have been sold for more than $500.

But if you are considering become a serious investor in domain names then it may be advisable to utilize the services of a number of paid and free domain name valuation tools and sites. All of which can help you to make a more informed decision as whether this is the right domain name for you to buy or not. Although the actual value of each domain name can vary vastly it is not unusual for each domain to now sell for more than it was originally purchased for.

Raking Money in Domain Names

By Menno Spijkstra

Domain names are like signposts on the internet. Almost all websites that you have visited or emails that you have composed used them in its addresses. Choosing one is a major step for any individual or any organization because it represents you or your business on the internet. Good domain names are those that are short, easy to remember and meaningful. For personal or business reasons, people register them in order to 'stake a claim' to a particular name. Once you have one registered, it is entirely yours for as long as you continuously pay the yearly renewal fee and abide by the terms of use. Not everyone is aware that they can actually get more money over time.

First, you can earn money by buying and selling domain names. You can make a big profit if you bought one for a low price and sell it a higher price. The difference between the buying price and the selling price is your profit. In domainprofiteer, one man bought a domain name for only $60 but he sold it for $10,000! Imagine the huge spread he got there. Second, you can get popular targeted names as they can be sold quickly at a higher price. If you do not plan to sell it, you can direct more traffic to your site and eventually have more profit.

Third, you can also park your domains in websites and sell them when somebody bids for a good price. DomainProfit methods say that parked domains have a high possibility of becoming a billion-dollar industry for paid search operators and for new breed of internet real estate developers. Parking them in websites is free and this lessens the cost of building your own website. You do not worry about maintenance and traffic. Fourth, you can also get expired domains as they can be popular and have existing traffic already. On the average, there are about 30,000 registered domains that expire everyday since there are many web site owners who fail to continue their web site business.

Fifth, another cheap traffic generating technique is redirecting visitors to your own website. Sixth, you may use them for affiliate marketing. These sites will get more clicks and therefore earn more commission. Unlike in the previous years when many people had a concept of buying in hopes of reselling them in the future, nowadays people purchase domain names to cash in money through online advertising. DomainProfiteer is a training system that reveals secrets on how to rake in cash in this industry. There is a lot undisclosed information on how to find and analyze offers that will help you choose the right one to buy. This business is surely not a fly by night industry.

With famous business tycoons investing millions of dollars in this industry, they are for sure not in this business for nothing. For these people, domains are like virtual real estate. They come with a real value that can be bought, sold, developed or leased. So, just like real estate, the value increase year after year. Eventually, by the time you sell, it may just have increased its value ten folds.

Domain Control - Don't Let Your Domain Name Get Stolen, Lost Or Hijacked

By Allen Howard

Ownership Considerations

For businesses and other organizations, the domain should always be registered in the organization's name, and the administrative (registrant) email address should be that of an officer or owner.

An organization's domain name should always be registered to that specific organization, because the registrant of the domain name essentially controls the usage of the domain name.

It may be tempting to turn over control of your domain to company technical personnel so the owner does not have to be bothered with handling renewal notices, etc. This practice is actually very common.

If a host or developer is the registrant of a domain, the organization can be essentially "locked in" to that provider's hosting services. This may be a problem if the organization wants to point the domain name to another service, and the registrant is not responsive or does not want to relinquish control of the domain name.

Preventing the loss of your domain name

This happens more often than you might think. A trusted employee registers a domain name and uses their contact information to register it. For whatever reason, they leave the company, the domain expires, and the rightful owner not only does not find out about it until it is already expired, but cannot reach the former employee to get the login information. Or worse, the termination of employment was not so gracious, and the former employee withholds the information out of spite.

It happens.

No matter how busy you are, register the domain yourself or verify that the administrative contact is in a company officer's name and email address.

Was your domain name hijacked?

If the damage is already done, you will need to gather a few things together. For instance, the articles of incorporation, or other proof of ownership.

Other registrars may be different, but for Tucows, you need to fax the articles of incorporation (or the like) and an enlarged photocopy of your driver's license or photo ID, and your contact information to a special fax number. They will then change the administrative email address to the email address you specify and send the login to that address.

You may then login and change the administrative information to yours.

Again, your registrar may have a slightly different procedure. Just be prepared to prove who you are and that you have the proper legal authority.

A final word

Always try to be conscious of your domain name registration. It is so easy to forget because they can be registered for years at a time. If you change your email address, try to remember to update your email address at the registry so you will receive renewal notices in time to prevent lapse of your website service and potential loss of business.

Get to Know Enhanced Domain Parking

By Kristi Ambrose

Most of us should know by now what domain parking or domain monetization is, and most of us also know its gotten very tired through the years. We want something new! Something that will bring us repeat "users"! Something that we can really be proud to stand behind! Well lucky for you and the rest of the people that jumped on the domain parking bandwagon, there is a new type of domain parking available. Now don't get me wrong this isn't like reinventing the wheel, its pretty much the same exact process, but there are a few really nice upgrade additions that are now being processed into these domain programs. These additions alone are making a big boom in the domaining industry! People get excited when something new comes along, that's obvious. But when it's something new and it works better than the something old, well that's just brilliant! Why not breath some life into your old names just sitting around in those old programs? Why not give them a fighting chance to make you some significant money!

With old programs the content on your domains was always the same and the only time it ever changed was when you changed the keywords. With the old programs only ads were placed on your site, and it really made you look like you were desperate for someone, anyone, to click or search on your site! If you're sick of the old, and want something new then you have to check these new sites out! Here, listed below are a few benefits you have to look forward to when you leave your plain old boring program and come on over to the brand new brilliantly working program! Check it out:

- You choose the keywords that are relevant to your domain name

- REAL Content, articles and press releases are displayed on your completely developed web site

- Fresh content is added to your web site daily. The only content that appears on your web site is directly related to the keywords that you've chosen.

- Visitors will bookmark and come back over and over again to read new articles on the subjects that interest them and brought them to your site in the first place.

- Add value to your domain names. Many domain owners do not have a portfolio of premium domain names and will likely never see a penny from traditional domain parking. By being able to build links to your sites, promote as a full website and build traffic to your domains, you can increase the value of your domain names! This means that eventually down the line when the time comes, you will be able to sell your premium domain names for hundreds even thousands of dollars! Can your old program do that? I think not!

One of the main reasons search engines don't recognize your old domains parked with your old program is because search engines only "crawl" pages that have unique content, and content that is updated every day or every few days. With regular parking programs you have the same ads on your site, day in and day out. However, on these enhanced site as aforementioned content is changed daily, so you can be absolutely sure that search engines like Google, yahoo, MSN and Ask will be crawling your page quite often, which then allows them to index your page, which then brings value to your domain name! It's a perfect circle and your losing out on all the positive benefits! Don't lose out anymore, check these enhanced programs out as soon as possible!

Wasting Money and Time Looking For the Right Internet Business

By James Blackwell

I am 54 years old and retired from the Federal Goverment in which I did 29.5 years of service including 4 years of military time. Since that time I have spent a lot of time and money seach for the right Home base Business especially selling and marketing over the World Wide Web. I love working out of my house setting at the computer.

Where as I can wake up without the sound of an alarm clock, walk about 5 feet to my office and I am at work. There is a since of freedom working for your self and working at home. The only possible disadvantage if I can call it that is you are in responsible for everything from picking the right products to sell, marketing, advertising and learning what works and what doesn't. I found one program with a product that seems to me to be the easiest to sell online and it is ten bucks a month. It might not seem like much but this little ten bucks a month can turn into ten thousand a month if your are consistent.

Considering all the other programs that I have joined, ten dollars is not bad for a month. Let take network marketing and multilevel marketing in which you have pay normally from $50 to $100 a month and they tell you to contact you warm market first. You have go out and drag all your friends, family and relatives and hardly do they ever join because they are really not interested but they do not want to hurt your feelings and you get desperate and try your cold market and you end up getting the cold shoulder. If this does not apply to you then I am not writing this for you to read just those who have had similar experience as I have had.

I am tired of programs offering great benefits but never delivering. As I stated before I am 54 years old and I do not have the time to be wasting money on programs that over promise and under deliver. I have one program in which I believe to the best, it only requires you to pay $10 bucks a month and over a period of time you could be making as much as $10k or more. Picking a Domain Name For Maximum Sales Online

By Sean R Mize

One of the first ways to implement this strategy is through mass Internet exposure. You will have to choose something to advertise, but many people use their domain names to link to a mass exposure campaign. It can also be your personal name, a brand name, your company name, but a web URL is memorable and gives instant access to many of your sales offers.

Picking a domain name is tricky these days because all the good ones are taken. To be a memorable domain name that rolls off the tongue it should be a one or two word phrase that also can be easily associated with what you are marketing on that website. Unfortunately, those have all been gobbled up by domain name investors. So, you are probably going to end up with at least three words in your domain name, unless you want to pay an investor for the rights to the domain they own. And, that can be a possibility since a domain name is a valuable piece of your marketing strategy.

You can check out domain names at places like GoDaddy and find out how to purchase them there. You will want to buy them with several different extensions like org and net to make sure no one attempts to squat on your name for future purposes. Once you own a good domain name that is memorable and easily associated with your products or services, the rest is easy. You just advertise that domain name where ever you go online. And, offline, you can advertise it in your letterhead, your business cards, even on the side of your car, if you're that adventurous.

If you aren't necessarily targeting the domain name, you still want to include it in your advertising in conjunction with whatever brand name, logo, or slogan you are using with this strategy. Then, you want to add it to your signature so that when you post online or send an email, people start to associate these images, words, or URL with your business. It's the small interactions that can have a large cumulative effect later down the line when they are trying to figure out who to contact for a particular solution. If your email is sitting in their inbox after having remained in contact with them over the course of some time, they will associate you with a familiar face and contact you.

That's also the reason that you should use social networking sites and be a member of multiple forums and groups. These types of interactions breed familiarity on a very intimate level over the Internet and they have the potential to reach many more people than just two or three coming into a retail store. Once people begin to associate your name and face with certain qualities, particularly friendship and familiarity, they are more apt to buy something from you or contact you when they have a need.

Domain Names - How to Choose the Right Names, Avoid the Wrong Names & Make Some Fast Cash

By T. C Mutch

In these tough economic times, you've got to keep sharp and on the ball to get the fast cash.

Listen to the market

The quickest way to lose your money as a domainer is to buy names that you THINK are good. It doesn't matter what you THINK is good. It's what the market tells you is good that you should be focusing on.

Successful domainers who make fast cash are focused on the market.

Some domains you come across might appear terrible, ridiculous!! Yet, if you have done your research and the market shows that people want these types of name then who are you & I to second guess the market? You've got to buy the names that are in demand and provide them for sale.

KEY RULE 1: Stick to your method. Don't think about domains that YOU like. Think about what the market tells you people are looking for. What's the demand?

Buying your domains

What to look for:

.com

The most desirable domain name still is one that ends with dot com. While there are always exceptions to the rule, my advice would be to focus on dot com extensions.

SHORT NAMES

The shorter the name, the better. There is a premium attached to a short domain name. Imagine your buyer as someone who is creating a website. Their goal is to make it as easy as possible for visitors to their site to get there. So typing in a short, memorable and pronounceable domain is always preferable.

2 letter .com names- only 676 combinations

3 letter .com names- only 17,576 combinations

4 letter .com names- only 456,976 combinations

Five letter domains are much more accessible. There are over 11 million of these available.Buyers love these if they are brandable. Think 'Yahoo'.

What to avoid:

Trademark domain names.

Keep away from these. Most companies are very protective of their trademark and will actively pursue legal action for damages against people 'Hopping' onto their trademark. It's just not worth it.

Celebrity based domains.

What might appear popular today may not be so popular in a few weeks. Also, celebrities are equally protective of their names and will likely sue. Keep away from these names too.

Domain Names and Website Flipping

By Sean R Mize

Using the metaphor of web sites as virtual real estate properties, then the domain name would be like the address for this piece of property. More accurately, the URL assigned to that domain name is going to point people to the location of your web site, which is populated with millions of sites competing for viewer attention. So, how do you get your domain name to stand out?

This is, by far, one of the most important decisions you will make concerning your website. A good domain name can be flipped all by itself as something extremely valuable. Combining it with a full fledged site it creates additional value that attracts buyers. What are most buyers looking for in a domain name?

The characteristics of a good domain name are as follows:

- One or two word phrases

You can't even get a one word domain name anymore, they are all taken and being squatted on by domain name investors. Even two word phrases are difficult to come by, but this is the ideal. Now, you may end up having to work with three words, which should be the maximum number of words in your domain name.

- Consists of popular search terms

You want to do a little research on what people are searching for across the Internet and try to incorporate a keyword in your domain name, if possible.

- More than one meaning

A domain name that has multiple meanings can be more valuable and marketable than one that is defined in more concrete terms.

- Marketing buzz

Does the domain name roll off the tongue? Is it memorable? The more memorable and snappy, the better the choice is for the domain name. A domain name should seek to be easy to remember, as well as easy to type.

- Conscious of different spellings

If you pick a word that can be misspelled easily or substituted for one with a different meaning that sounds the same, then you will have cyber squatters lining up to try to register those before you do. You will want something that cannot be misspelled so easily. Even now, if you were to take someone else's popular site and register a misspelling of their domain name, you may end up being sued. So, be careful when you use this strategy.

In essence, you want a domain name that people find easy to remember and that search engines like because of misspellings or search term popularity. You want to avoid hyphenated domain names, numbers in the name, and any other top level domains that don't end with the .com extension, unless you already have a buyer interested in that.

You will be creating multiple sites to flip, so you want to try out services that allow you to buy domain names in batches and to allow you to flip ownership easily too. The ideal is to have a "push" capability that is a simple process of pushing the domain name to another owner without too much hassle. Namecheap.com is an example of a domain name registrar service that has a push capability. It's not the cheapest domain name registrar service and you can try Name.com for better prices. Other Internet marketers like popular portals for domain names like GoDaddy.com. Be sure to check out the resource page to get more information on these and links to them too.

How to Select a Domain Name and a Web Host

By Russell Blanc

The domain name for a web site should be relevant to your business and easy to remember. With several thousands of domain names being sold each day, it can be a challenge to find the appropriate domain name for your company. But being creative and original can go a long way and will serve your purpose well.

There are a few important points to consider when selecting a domain name:

  • Use existing domain names but in another fashion. For example if you want to have a website related to time management. Obviously www.timemanagement.com will probably not be available. You may try variations. I hope you get the idea. Anyway, you must try to keep the domain from becoming too long as well because the longer the domain name, then the harder it is to remember.

  • Create a unique name - If you create a unique name like yahoo or Amazon, you will have a greater chance of getting a shorter and catchy domain name. If again I take the above example - time management can take the shape of tima or mytime.

  • Domain Extensions or Types - There are many domain suffixes to choose from for a given name, i.e. .com, .net, .org, .name, .fr, .us, etc. Once you have a great web address (read domain name), the next step will be to find an equally great host to take your site to the internet world. So let's choose a web host for you.

Consider these when choosing a web hosting provider:

  • Disk Space - Decide how much disk space you will require. Normally most web hosting providers now offer unlimited disk space so this should not be an issue. Disk Space is a measurement of the number of files in weight on your server. Just be sure to check with your web hosting provider that there is unlimited Disk Space. Bluehost or Lunarpages are a few examples of web hosts that offer unlimited disk space.

  • Bandwidth - This factor is usually overlooked until the bandwidth limit is reached. If you go over your allotted bandwidth, you will have to pay a lot more. If you are running a site with lots of downloads, or a site with lots of images, audio and/or video your bandwidth will be a lot higher than a site with mostly text. And again, most web hosting providers offer unlimited bandwidth.

  • Uptime - An uptime guarantee of minimum 99% is becoming more of a standard these days. Make sure your web host has great uptime.

  • CGI Bin - This is now an industry standard. If you do not have access to your own CGI Bin, you cannot install scripts and programs. You can't do without scripts.

  • MySQL - MySQL database is needed to hold the data in your website. Again this is something you cannot avoid. You will probably need a minimum of one database.

  • PHP - Many new scripts and programs require PHP support. Most website use the Linux and PHP support unless you are on a Windows server. Again, this feature is almost standard these days.

  • FTP Access - Unlimited and unrestricted FTP access to your site is essential. You will need an FTP program to transfer files.

  • Control Panel - A Control panel should be easy to use. Some control panels require hours of learning. If you select a plan where you cannot preview your control panel before you buy, you can always use the money back guarantee to get out of it if you are not happy. Most web hosts have a 30 day guarantee. Most of the good hosts have a demo version of their control panel.

  • Customer Support Service - Without a doubt, simply the most important feature you can look for. If your web host does not provide any kind of 24/7 Customer Support, then you really need to look for one that does. Most web hosts now provide around the clock support.

So by now you have the basis of choosing a great domain name and also a great web hosting company. Happy hosting!!!!!

Simple Ways to Buy and Sell Domain Names

By Oseremen Aigbokhae

To buy and sell domain names online is the best business you can find on the internet. It is almost risk free and involves small capital investment as low as $10. You can register a quality domain name for $9.25 only and sell as much as $5,000 within 30 days or less.

Here are my guaranteed simple ways to thrive in this lucrative business.

1. Research before Registering Domains

In this business, junk domains have no place of recognition. If you register a poor name, the truth is that you may not be able to sell it even for the cost of registration.

So research domain names that are:

- niche market specific (marketability)

- easy to remember (memorable)

- generic (everyday English words that are popular)

- free from infringement (no trademark violations)

- short words (the shorter the better)

- keyword or keyword phrase rich (for search engine positioning)

- dot com extension preferred (.com, .net, .org etc in that order)

2. Market Your Registered Domains

Thousands, if not millions of names are being registered daily. This means that the market is more than saturated competitively for your names to stand out. Therefore, the simplest way to sell is to aggressively market your product in prime websites with prime, auction or featured listing. Create awareness and buying desire in the minds of your prospects.

3. Sell after Domain Name Appraisal

In order not to short change or price yourself out of the market, you need to compare the price you expect from your domain names with similar ones already sold. Or, in the alternative, you can invest between $15 and $50 in appraisal if you can afford it. The advantage of appraisal is that it gives you a realistic idea of how much to expect from a sale or to know what to do with the domain name before selling.

Personally, for instance, an appraised name with $150 or less value simply prompt me to develop it over time before selling rather than outright sale after registration.

As I continue to earn money from it through affiliate products sales, contextual advertising (e.g. Google AdSense, bidvertiser, etc) and selling my own products I am invariably increasing its value by how much I currently earn from it for eventual sale.

A Review of GDI - Global Domains International

By M Rose

As a true skeptic, I'm always very wary of all of these programs on the internet that claim to bring you riches... or even a decent monthly income. It's amazing to me (and pretty pathetic) how many human beings are out there willing to scam you out of your hard earned money. Well, if you've been on the internet for any amount of time looking at business options, you will eventually come across someone promoting Global Domains International, or GDI for short. Is this business opportunity a scam? At first glance you might think so. You're directed to a flashy video presentation where they offer you a seven-day, no obligation free trial. Not many internet companies offer that, so I thought I'd give it a shot. And I'm really glad I did.

If you're reading this review you probably already know that GDI sells internet domains and websites for a mere ten US dollars a month. For that you get a web site, ten email addresses, and a domain name of your choosing. That cost also includes a website builder and email forwarding. That alone (in my opinion) is more than worth the ten dollars a month. But I think the best thing about Global Domains International is the business opportunity. All you pay is ten dollars a month and you have your own home based business with unlimited income potential. You simply send other people to view the same video that you viewed, and GDI makes the sale for you. It doesn't get any easier than that. This is truly a great passive way to make money online. You won't become a millionaire overnight, but over time you can really create a great income stream.

The GDI website offers numerous ways to advertise your new business, and they're always there to answer any questions. You don't really need to be a salesman because the GDI videos do all the selling for you. GDI satisfied the skeptic in me (which is not an easy thing to do).

All in all, I'd recommend Global Domains International simply because of its simplicity. And you've really got nothing to lose because of the seven-day free trial. If you're interested in this no-nonsense business opportunity, or if you're just interested in getting your own ten-dollar-a-month website, you can check them out for yourself by clicking the link below.

Best Wishes,

Getting The Right Domain Name For Your Online Business

By Ao Aden

In all well organized countries of the world, businesses are not just named. The availability of that name that is precious to the business owner must be checked. It is very possible you have been dreaming of a name for more than 10 years and have not mentioned it to any living soul; but alas! You are told the name is not available.

Most times, coming up with a very appropriate alternative is not usually as easy. The number of domain name possibilities is enormous but the number of quality domain names is shrinking. Then what do you do? It may just be a brilliant option to search if you can make a purchase of the desired domain name. Just as for human beings, domain name is important for online presence too. It promotes or should promote the passion and intentions of the owner.

Back in college days, I remember having a friend by virtue of coincidence of out names and initials. It was the custom back then in school to write your surname in full and other names as initials. Unfortunately, we were answering same surname and initials. The school administration found it difficult I coping with our records and by our second year running allowed us to always write our names in full.

Online business name otherwise known as domain names can not also be duplicated. Each is assigned a DNS and an IP. It is either that or another. When thinking of a fresh online business, the importance of acquiring a catchy domain name cannot be overemphasized. Carefully selecting one for your next online business can be the most important decision you may make at startup. Be careful; be smart!

Thirsty for a domain name that has to do with love, conflict/misunderstanding resolution, getting an 'ex' back or divorce, to workplace conflict management, challenges with in-laws, e-book sales, peacekeeping, etc., here is a site with a sellable name you might want to grab for the mission. Affiliate products on above keywords may just feel at home there. Go for it NOW!

Buy Premium Domain Names

By Brian Potter

If you are starting a new online business, blog or informational website, you are in it to attract as much traffic as possible. Of course, there are multiple ways of advertising your site both on and off the Internet, but one thing that is often overlooked in the process is the importance of buying a premium domain name. Having a good name that customers will remember and refer to will bring lots of traffic to your site. In fact, choosing a name that customers naturally put in an address without even searching is even better.

For example, if the name of your car dealership were Fred's Fine Cars, it would be in your business's best interest to try to purchase the domain name, fredsfinecars.com. It's a good idea to keep your name as simple to spell and memorable as possible. The maximum number of characters in a domain is 63 and only Accredited Registrars can sell domain names. A quick Internet search will turn up thousands of services that say that they sell premium domain names, but how do you know which one is best for you? The answer depends in large part on what services you need and want for your business.

It is vital that you work with a dependable company as well. There is nothing worse than your domain registration running out without being notified or any other host of issues you might experience with a less-than-reputable-service. When you are searching for a Registrar, be aware that not all companies that offer domain registration are, in fact, Registrars. Some companies use a third party who is accredited to register domain names for them as a part of a web-hosting package. While this may be fine with you, consider that you may have a technical problem and have more difficulty figuring out whom to work with in this regard. When you register your domain name, it will be for a specific time period, most commonly 6 months to one year.

At the end of this time you must re-register, or your name can be released and transferred to another owner. Carefully read the Terms of Agreement before you sign any contract for service. You will also need to determine which companies offer the services that you are looking for. Some people simply need a bare bones domain name registration, while others may need web and email hosting and much more. You can choose whether or not to have your domain name registration and web hosting handled by the same carrier.

This allows you some bargaining room as you can determine what items you really need to pay for, and which you can do without. Most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) already include email in their fees, so unless you need substantially more capacity you may not want to pay for email hosting from a Registrar. Another service to consider is forwarding. Forwarding sends traffic from another site to yours if you have purchased both names. For example, if you own the site fredsfinecars.com, you may want to purchase fredsfinecars.net and have the traffic forwarded to your page.

Your choice of correct and appropriate premium domain names can make a huge difference to the success of your business on the internet-so make sure you consider them carefully. Visit http://inimitabledomains.com to find the most suitable domain names just tailored for your business, many categories to choose from and you can name your own price too!.

How to Register a Killer Domain Name and Explode Your Business

By Panah C Rad

Finding a killer domain for your website can be the difference between a highly successful business and a failed on. Depending on the direction you go with your domain, you can make or break your business. A domain that is short, catchy, and memorable can bring you tons of free traffic and help you attract new customers and retain your existing ones.

Registering a killer domain is not rocket science but there are a few small details that you need to pay attention to. Here are a few tips that will help you find the killer domain that you have been searching for.

1. Choose a short domain: don't you just hate long domains? They are not easy to type and hard to remember. Add hyphens to your domain, and you are going to make it very difficult for folks to remember your domain names. As far as number, you can use numbers but as long as they make sense. iphone20.com makes sense, but myblog373.com does not. Your domain should be easy to spell too. Avoiding hyphens makes it easy to type out domains.

2. Catchy names matter: think about it. Amazon, eBay, Yahoo!, and Google all have catchy domains. Finding a catchy domain is not that easy, but something you should think about if you plan to expand your business and build a real brand.

3. Beware of trademarks: there is always a temptation among folks to start a site about another popular site or service. Let's say you are planning to start a site about "wordpress." You should keep in mind that you can't use the word "wordpress" in your domain name.

4. Only .com matters: this might be an exaggeration, but you should always register a domain in its .com format. You should also register .net, .org, and .us TLDs if you prefer, but having the .com version of your domain is a must.

5. Include top keyword phrase: this is often hard to do, but if you are creating a site about credit cards, you should try to fit your main phrase in your domain name. Keep in mind that you don't want to have a very long domain name, so don't go overboard with this.

At the end of the day, you want to choose a domain that represents what your business stands for. It should be "brandable," short, and easy to remember. You don't have go overboard and spend months to find the right domain, but you should put enough effort behind it to find a killer domain for the long run.

Domain Names - Where Do They Go When They Die?

By Jason D Dutch

One night I couldn't sleep - okay, there have been more than one of those - but this one night, I got restless thinking about my internet business ideas. After tossing and turning and planning, I decided to get up and check out the availability of some of the domain names that might work for the ideas I was having. I registered 27 domain names that night. Just to secure them in case I might later want to pursue those ideas.

I hung on to all of them for a year and then renewed 19 of the domain names. Some I tried to develop, some I did develop, and others I still have just in case.... As the availability of good solid domain names dwindled, I was glad that I had registered some pretty decent names.

So what happened to those great 4 a.m. ideas I had? Well at least one of them was picked up and turned into a virtual goldmine by someone else. Some of the others have been moderately successful. Some not so successful. But every single one has been picked up by someone else.

Domain names are like acquaintances and some turn into friends and some just drift away - out of your life. But that does not mean that they have disappeared. They have just gone on to make new acquaintances. Or in the case of domains, they have gone on to be the repository of someone's else's dreams and wisdom.

This is a very good thing for marketers because when you find that exact idea, you don't want to have to give it some long cumbersome name like thisismydreamdomainnameaboutgoldfish.com. It's just too long. It is much better to be able to look around for some newly free domain names that have been rescued from the languishing pile of recently released names.

You think all good domain names are gone or extremely expensive? Well, they are not. Jason Dutch owns and operates JasonsDomains.com where where he lists up to 800 premium domain names and accepts 70% of all "Name Your Own Price" bids. Find the perfect domain at JasonsDomains.

The WS Domain Extension - An Opportunity in Its Infancy

By Brian Rhodes

Have you heard of the .WS extension? Maybe not but I can assure you that Microsoft, Cisco Systems, Yahoo, Dell, Intel and just about every major retail chain has. If you are skeptical go ahead and type "your favorite store".ws and you will be directed to their homepage just as if you had typed the old familiar .com ending. They know, just as you should, that this is the wave of the future and they do not want to be left behind, or worse, "cyber-squatted". Cyber-squatting is when someone with no intention of actually using a domain name registers a very popular name and holds it hostage until the company commonly associated with that name is forced to buy the domain from them.

How many times in your life do you get to be ahead of the curve and know something that the major players are just learning about themselves? How many times do you get to be involved with the exclusive seller of an item that is sure to be used by EVERYONE in a very short time? How many times do you get the opportunity to be in business for yourself for FREE?

GDI, Global Domains International Inc., acquired the sole right to the WS extension and it is accessible as a top level domain by every computer in the world with an internet hookup. GDI, founded in 1999, is a very solid, stable business that is a member of both the Direct Sellers Association and the Better Business Bureau. What does this mean to you? A NO RISK, ground floor opportunity that you can take advantage of right now!

You really owe it to yourself to find out more. You owe it to your family and its security to find out:

  • How you can get not 1, 2, or even 3 but 6 free websites working around the clock for your business!

  • How you can work as little or as much as you want without fear of missing some sort of quota.

  • How all this can be done WITHOUT SELLING! You never have to talk to a single person unless you choose to!

  • How you can get started for FREE and prove to yourself that you will be successful without spending a dime!

I invite you to visit my website listed below and/or email me at brian@fortunesmadeonline.ws and learn as much as you can before the doors slam shut on this golden opportunity!

Selecting the Right Domain Name Matters

By Dipesh Majumder

Research 5 Top Keywords

When you first begin your domain name search, it helps to have 5 terms or phrases in mind that best describe the domain you're seeking. Once you have this list, you can start to pair them or add prefixes & suffixes to create good domain ideas. For example, if you're launching a mortgage related domain, you might start with words like "mortage, finance, home equity, interest rate, house payment" then play around until you can find a good match.

Make the Domain Unique as much as possible

Having your website confused with a popular site already owned by someone else is a recipe for disaster. Thus, I never choose domains that are simply the plural, hyphenated or misspelled version of an already established domain. I still believe that Flickr desperately needs to buy Flicker.com - I hear kids in their 20's tell parents in their 40's and 50's to see photos on Flickr and always envision that traffic going straight to the wrong domain.

Try to choose Dot-Com Available Domains

If you're not concerned with type-in traffic, branding or name recognition, you don't need to worry about this one. However, if you're at all serious about building a successful website over the long-term, you should be worried about all of these elements, and while directing traffic to a .net or .org (as SEOmoz does) is fine, owning and 301'ing the .com is critical. With the exception of the very tech-savvy, most people who use the web still make the automatic assumption that .com is all that's out there - don't make the mistake of locking out or losing traffic to these folks.

Make it Easy to Type

If a domain name requires considerable attention to type correctly, due to spelling, length or the use of un-memorable words or sounds, you've lost a good portion of your branding and marketing value. I've even heard usability folks toute the value of having the letters include easy-to-type letters (which I interpret as avoiding "q," "z," "x," "c," and "p").

Make it Easy to Remember

Remember that word-of-mouth and SERPs dominance marketing (where your domain consistently comes up for industry-related searches) both rely on the ease with which the domain can be called to mind. You don't want to be the company with the terrific website that no one can ever remember to tell their friends about because they can't remember the domain name.

Keep the Name as Short as Possible

Short names are easy to type and easy to remember (the previous two rules). They also allow for more characters in the URL in the SERPs and a better fit on business cards and other offline media.

Create and Fulfill Expectations

When someone hears about your domain name for the first time, they should be able to instantly and accurately guess at the type of content that might be found there. That's why I love domain names like Hotmail.com, CareerBuilder.com, AutoTrader.com and WebMD.com. Domains like Monster.com, Amazon.com and Zillow.com (whom I usually praise) required far more branding because of their un-intuitive names.

Avoid Copyright Infringement

This is a mistake that isn't made too often, but can kill a great domain and a great company when it does. To be sure you're not infringing on anyone's copyright with your site's name, visit copyright.gov and search before you buy.

Set Yourself Apart with a Brand

Using a unique moniker is a great way to build additional value with your domain name. A "brand" is more than just a combination of words, which is why names like mortgageforyourhome.com or shoesandboots.com aren't as compelling as branded names like bankrate.com or lendingtree.com. SEOmoz itself is a good example - "SEO" does a good job of explaining the industry we're in and creating expectations, while "moz" gives a web association, and an association with being free, open, and community-driven.

Reject Hyphens and Numbers

Both hyphens and numbers make it hard to give your domain name verbally and falls down on being easy to remember or type. I'd suggest not using spelled-out or roman numerals in domains, as both can be confusing and mistaken for the other.

Don't Follow the Latest Trends

Website names that rely on odd mis-spellings (like many Web 2.0 style sites), multiple hyphens (like the SEO-optimized domains of the early 2000's), or uninspiring short adjectives (like "top...x," "best...x," "hot...x") aren't always the best choice. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but in the world of naming conventions in general, if everyone else is doing it, that doesn't mean it's a surefire strategy. Just look at all the people who named their businesses "AAA... x" over the last 50 years to be first in the phone book; how many Fortune 2000's are named "AAA company?"

Most of us, when thinking of the web in general and websites in particular, .com is what first comes to mind. This .com at the end of a website address is what is known as a domain extension - these have a particular function in the structure of the internet as a global construct and for that reason, there is more than one extension. In fact, there are quite a few possible extensions, but there are a few which are the most common among them.

While of course .com is the best known of these extensions, there are a few other common domain extensions - .net and .org are the most common other than .com. All three of these common domain extensions are known as top level domain extensions. These are the most commonly chosen extensions for websites.

.com is meant for use by commercially oriented websites, while .net was originally intended for non-commercial (generally speaking, personal) websites. .org was originally meant for use by non-profit organizations. However, there are no hard and fast rules governing the use of these common domain extensions. There are for-profit websites which use the .net and .org extensions, and non-profit organizations which use the .com extension.

The reason for this is that when registering a website, you may often find that the domain name you would like has already been registered by someone else in the domain extension of your choice. Since there are no actual regulations governing the use of these common domain extensions, you can use any of them that are available for your website. If you want to register your new website and find that the .com extension for the domain name is already taken, you may then try to register the domain name with the .net or .org extensions instead.

So which of these common domain extensions is right for your website? That all depends. While most people prefer the popular .com extension, at least if it is available, it is perfectly fine to use the .net and .org extensions as well. Just make sure that when telling people about your website that you remember to include the extension. Even though the other common domain extensions are growing more widely used as the number of sites on the web grows, it is still a habit for many to simply assume the extension will be .com.

There are plenty of other possible domain extensions; these are largely meant for specialized purposes and are best saved for another day. You can look into these less common domain extensions if you have a specific purpose for doing so. However, the vast majority of websites continue to use the big three domain extensions as they always have.

Domain Names - Are There Any Good Ones Left?

By Jason D Dutch

Years ago - the mid-90s not the mid-50s - but we are talking about the internet here...as I was saying, years ago, a good domain name cost about $50 to register for a year. There were fewer than 100,000 domains. So you can imagine the fun of playing with the notion of registering coke.com or pepsi.com.

There were many interesting domain name registration situations. A good example is Jim Cashel who in 1994 registered about a dozen and a half domains with company names such as trump, esquire, and hertz. In the early days of domain name registration, the concept of capture internet real estate was of little interest to many big businesses. All a person needed was a credit card and the ability to come up with names that he or she might like to register.

When the internet turned out to be more than a fad, business began to find that a lot of the domains relating to their business were already owned. There was a brief burgeoning business in domain name squatting. This was not illegal. Actually there had never been a reason to even consider such an action. There was no legal impediment to anyone registering a copyrighted name. They might have trouble using the name to advertise the copyrighted items but there was nothing to stop them from registering the actual name.

The laws changed and such behavior is no longer possible. Now a whole different problem exists and that is that the choice in internet top level domain names, particular the dot-coms, is dwindling. As it now stands, you should consider yourself lucky to find a dot-com phrase that you can register as your domain.

However, many times, really top-notch domain names return to the fold. People and computers fade away, go out of business, and change direction. They give up domains they registered in the heyday of domain name registrations and there are some dandy domains available out there with good old-fashioned short names.

Your Domain Name

By Amilu Stewart

Are you aware of how important your domain name is? Once you choose your domain name, you will use that name as your identity on the world wide web. This domain name will be the way that your customers will associate with your product or service. You want to select a name that is easy to spell and pronounce. Besides having a good website and a great product or service, you want to have a domain name that is easily associated with your product or service.

Even though the internet has been around for a while, you might think that there would be no domain names left. It is estimated that there are a possibility of close to 32 trillion domain names available. That means that for the 6 billion human beings on earth each one could have 5 thousand domain names available to them.. There are certainly many exciting opportunities left for each of us.

The domain name is divided into three parts, The first part is common to most addresses on the web and it consists of http://www, The second is the part that you get to select. The third part is the extension such as com, org, edu, etc.

There are several rules that you need to use when you create your domain name. Several marks are not allowed such as colons, exclamation points and forward and backward slashes. There is no allowance for spaces so that your domain name is one word. The length of the domain name is limited to 26 characters and this includes the extension such as com, edu, org. If you choose a domain name that is already registered to someone else, you will have to choose another one. Domain names are not case sensitive so that using capitals will not add to the uniqueness of your domain name.

You will want to use your creative ability in choosing your domain name and want it to reflect your product or service. You want to be careful that you don't offend anyone using another language or that it might have a negative connotation. For most small business owners, it will be more effective to choose a domain name that is less generic and more specific to your product or service. Be careful that your domain name is not in violation of trademarks or copyrights.

Success to you in your quest to select the perfect domain name for your business.

What Percentage of the Domainers Make More Than Minimum Hourly Wage?

By John Parks

With the surge of internet entrepreneurs, also came the surge of domainers or business savvy professionals who purchase domain names and sell them to others. Although many of these domainers make a tremendous amount of money, there are quite a few others who barely make more than the minimum wage in their states. In this informative article, we will discuss the domainer business as well as the old age question of what percentage of domainers make more than minimum hourly wage. So, without further adieu, let's get started.

Before we begin, one must understand that the domainer business is just like any other, those that perform the best are the ones that put the most time and energy into their business dealings. Those that make excessive amounts of money are the ones that study and understand internet trends and have a good understanding of the internet marketplace. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that about 25% of all domainers actually make more than minimum wage whereas 75% do not. Here's why:

The purchasing and selling domain names is highly speculative. Just like no one can accurately predict the weather 100% of the time, the more knowledgeable you are, the better able you are to make educated guesses that may in fact pay off in the long run. Those domainers who make a killing in the bsiness are not only lucky but they have a specialized talent for understanding trends and acting upon them. They also know alot about the what names will sell and how to obtain the best price for the sales. In essence, they have a vision and are able to back up that vision with pure knowledge and specialized domain buying skills.

Only 25% of domainers make a good living because the domainer business attracts newbies who don't know anything about the business. They simply get into the business in order make a quick buck. They are lured into false promises of making hundreds, thousands or even millions of dollars by selling domain names. The truth of the matter is that the domainer business is very saturated and it takes a lot of domain name buys to have one good sell. That is, successful domainers, who make more than minimum wage, are those that purchase thousands of qualified leads and then sell them using clever marketing strategies.

The domainer business is just like any other. Although a great deal of it is based on luck, to be truly successful requires that you put in a lot of time and energy into the learning and perfection process. You have to try out many different methods of selecting domain names until you develop a strategy that works. You have to conduct extensive research and truly learn how to choose hot names before other competitive domainers snatch up the good names. And, you have to be a skilled marketing expert that works hard to sell your product, the domain names, to earn the most profits. For many domainers, this is emotionally and physically taxing and those domainers that succeed are the ones that put in the most effort and display the most talent.

In conclusion, about 25% of all domainers make more than the minimum hourly wage. This is because they are qualified and talented professional who put in the work to reap the benefits. Those domainers who make minimum wage, don't take their job seriously and don't have the talent or knowledge that it takes to make it to the top in this ever-changing field.

Domaining - The Easy Way to Make Money Fast

By Amit Beriwal

If you think that you know all about domain buy and sell structure for making fast and easy money, then do read this.

Domain name business is one of the least known way of making easy money, and that too very quick. You want to be a millionaire, and you can't wait, that's the reason you are here. Let me help you out. First and foremost, forget everything you know about domain names business, and start from scratch.

The term given to this business is Domaining. It is business of buying and selling domain names for making money. The reselling of this type is actually comparable to real estate. You invest in the property, seek a potential buyer, and then sell it to him at a large price tag. Thereby making profit. The only difference is that "domain reselling" is much easier and much cheaper as it requires very less investment and normally gives great returns, if used accordingly. Many people even make there living by this. Beleive me, it means lots of money and that too easy.

The domaining often occupies building up of the domain name portfolios, or else accumulation of the domain names, in accordance to various criterias. This domain name portfolios frequently consist of profitable generic dictionary word domain names, or domains whose registrations have lapse but they still retain practical traffic. The more traffic, the more money you earn.

I will move step by step in helping you through the complete process.

1. Domain name

This is the first step in the process, you need to finalize on the domain name you want to invest in. Buying a domain name depends on various factors like:- What is your budget, Which market you are targetting, who is the potential customer. You should answer these questions before buying a domain name. Also some other points to keep in mind are:- The domain name should be short, as it is easier to remember and creates a greater possibility of the traffic to return again. The domain name must be easier to memorize, good for your business. The domain must be brandable, and must cater to the needs of some particular niche. Try and avoid domains which contain hyphens and numbers. Go for a .com extension for your registration.

2. Buy a Domain name Before buying a domain name, check out the traffic the niche receives, more traffic implies that your revenue generation will be more. So make sure you check out the quality of the name and the traffic the domain gets, before making an investment. The keyword here is "research", and you need to do some of it before making an investment.

Try and look for a cheap domain, as they are the best buys. The cheap domain don't cost you much, moreover if properly aimed at a niche then they produce good results. Make sure you go for a cheap domain, else you have a hefty bank balance.

Now here is point that you buy a domain name for reselling or you register a new domain name for reselling. If you don't want to buy an existing domain, then you may try creating a new domain name, it norrmally comes free along with some web hosting packages. Web Hosting implies that you rent some space on a server to host your web site, and they provide you the domain name registration for free, though it may change from vendor to vendor.

3. Domain registration If you plan to create a new domain, then you need to register it, for registration of domain you need to find a registrar, that provides you the name. The second option is that you go for a web hosting domain package, where they provide you the space at some cost, but provides the domain name registration for free. Make sure that you register your domain with a "com" extension as it is higly valued in the market. If you really want to make money then this point counts much.

4. Sell the Domain name Now that you have got a good domain name targeted at a particular niche, you may seek the help of various sites for finding a potential buyer for you. Sites like DMOZ.org is a great source for this. Just prove to your customer that he is getting the best buy and you are the winner. Make cash from your resell and go ahead for a next buy.

The stuff till now was for getting you started, now regarding the strategy part of the business, most domainers try and make a long term investment. They buy and own names, they park on web sites... Oh I forgot to tell you about Website Parking. Website Parking is the way of making money when your domain is sitting idle. I will clarify this, Now that you looked for a cheap domain, if unable to find then you register domain preferably with a "com" extension. Then you buy domain using a seller or via web hosting domain packages. Now that you have got all but not a profitable client, in that case you can park your website. Website Parking implies that the site on which your domain is parked, will use your domain for putting up ads, some people type the name of the thing they required, without knowing that it exists or not. Like if a person needs a plumber, then he may type plumber.com without knowing that the site exists or not. Website Parking makes use of this benefit and earns from the normal domain name traffic that may occur. And if a person clicks on an add then you earn. Isn't that great, you earn money without doing anything.

Some more points to consider while buying a domin name includes, if you think that some technology is going to take off, then get a domain name that pertains to it. The more relevant the name, the more money you will make. I will close this article with an example, Schwartz sold Men.com for $1.3 million in 2003, and he had bought the domain at $15,000 in 1997. Mind Blowing isn't it.

So Domain names reselling provide a great oppurtunity for making large amount of money, and that too very fast. So guys for more info on this and this type of articles keep buzzing http://ways-to-make-easy-money.blogspot.com

Keep buzzing.

Simple Steps to Making Money Selling Domain Names

By Cillian Baillie

The selling of domain names can be quite a lucrative business for a great number of people. If you have a domain name that has existing traffic then the value can go up accordinly. With some knowledge of what to look for it should be possible to emulate making a profit selling domain names.

The first step is to find a domain name that is to perform research on keywords that are getting good traffic and have little competition in the search engines. There are many free keyword tools out there that can provide this information.

Once you have found a good keyword(s) that meets the criteria above, the next step is to buy a domain name that is made up of your keyword(s). Today it will be virtually impossible to find a one word domain, therefore, your domain name will be made up of a number of keywords. If possible try and register a .com domain as these still hold the most value. If you can't get the keywords that you require then you may have to add extra words.

Next step is to purchase the domain and point it to your hosting. Alternatively, you could simply park the domain with a number of companies that provide this service for domain names.

So you have the domain name setup on your hosting and the next part is to setup a site. This could be anything from a single page to a site with many hundreds of pages. This will all depend on what you are wanting to do with the domain name and also your expertise. If you don't know about setting up a website there a many places where you can hire freelancers to do this for you or alternatively you could learn html.

The next step would be to monetize your site however you see fit if this is what you want to do. This could be affiliate products related to the niche, or you could add adverts where you get paid every time a visitor clicks. This is totally up to you in what you are looking to do with your site. You could simply add a single page stating that the domain name is for sale with your contact details.

Once you have decided on the above then the next step is to start driving traffic to the site and building inbound links. This can be done in a number of ways, but if money is an issue maybe one of the best ways is to write articles which are submitted to various article directories with a link back to your site. Also try and exchange links to other webmasters in your niche, this can be achieved by simply emailing the relevant webmaster. There are many other ways to drive traffic, but that would be another article in itself.

Once you have started to drive traffic to the site and maybe generated some revenue you may think about putting the domain name and possibly the site up for sale. There are various places where you can list domain names and site for sale online.

When the domain name and maybe site is sold then this will be transferred through to the new owner. Your hosting and domain registrar will be able to help you out with this process.

The money that you have generated with this sale could be used to start the process over again or maybe look to purchase an expired domain that already has traffic. This would take out one of the steps which could speed up the whole process
