Domain flipping has become a nice resource for earning additional income. You can easily make a profit of $40 - $100 in the space of a week. However knowing what domain names to purchase, and flip, is the only way that you can turn profits effortlessly. Here are 10 things you need to know when purchasing a domain name.
- If you are just starting out, it is better to buy a few domain names (commonly 10), rather than just one or two. This will create a better chance of you profiting then losing money. Many expert domainers buy hundreds of domain names, but if you are just a beginner first develop the skills involved in domain flipping.
- Do your research and always put your mind in that of the purchasers. What you may think is a good domain name, does not mean that it will be good sell.
- Think of what you are going to do with the domain name. Is it for short term or long term use? If it is for short term use you need to have a top level domain (TLD) name, as you are probably going to flip the domain name immediately, thereby less chance of losing money. If it is for long term use, you need to make sure you get traffic to the domain name, to make it appreciate in value. Generating traffic will definitely increase the price of your domain name.
- Are you going to build a website or blog around the domain name and then flip the website? This is a very good source of income as well.
- Look for rising trends and register your domain name around that trend. When the trend hits you can easily make a nice amount of money for that domain name.
- Make sure your domain name does not infringe on trademarks or copyrights, like having Google included in your domain name.
- If you aren't able to find good domain names, head over to Ebay.com or domain flipping forums to see what domain names are selling for a high price. You can then get keywords from that, and try finding domain names with those keywords in them.
- Relate to what purchaser's are looking for in domain names. Popular trends are music, games, adult themes, profit themes, etc.
- Try find good domain names with ".com". They are perceived as more valuable than the other extensions. ".info" and ".net" are good as well, but try stick to ".com"
- Last, but definitely not least, do not give up. Many beginners start flipping domains thinking they are going to make a killing, and when they make $5 or so, they get despondent and give up. Domain flipping takes skill and time to learn, but in the end is worth it.
